So I have decided to start this blog as it was suggested to me this weekend at my farewell party! I think it is a good idea! I will update this blog a lot throughout my first year in the professional theatre world and this new adventure I am about to embark on.
Just to sum up the past few months and what is going on with me as of right now, I am currently cast in the 1st National Tour of the Tony-Award Winning Broadway Musical Spring Awakening! I first auditioned on a whim in Boston in March (thank you to Ms. Carly Vernon for telling me bout it no joke). I flew there and auditioned after waiting in 3 hours of snow in flats and a dress...seriously! Immediately after my first auditioned I was called back in to read for the role of Wendla. After that read, I was asked to come back the next day to read and sing for Wendla and Ilse! That Sunday, I went in and auditioned for Carrie and Kim and was told in the callback that I was invited to final callbacks in New York City and was given another packet for Anna. I was so excited and shocked. So to make a very long story short, I went to the Big City with my sister and mom, and went through one-on-one workshops with Michael Mayer (dir of SA) and Kim Grisby (music dir of SA), saw Spring Awakening for the first time which was the most incredible thing I had ever seen, and then that Monday morning, I auditioned in front of the entire Spring Awakening artistic team!! I then flew back to AZ and received a call the next day by Carrie Gardener offering me the role of Swing and understudy for Wendla and Ilse in the 1st National Tour! I cried on the phone with her lol.
So anyway, that pretty much sums up my life right now. I leave in 6 days to live the ultimate dream in New York City! I am so excited to meet the cast and everyone involved with what is going to be an incredible show! We will be traveling the country for at least the next 13 months! I will post a list of cities and dates soon. To buy tickets and such go to www.springawakening.com. As of this moment, I have no idea when I will be going on, but as I find out, if I do, I will let you guys know. :)
Until next time!
